Rear Door Check Link Replacement Cargo Doors

Removal Procedure

  1. Open the door.

  2. Object Number: 324188  Size: MH
  3. Lift the check assembly from the mounting bracket in order to remove the check assembly from the bracket.
  4. Important: Remove one screw at a time if you are replacing the mounting bracket. Remove the one screw that retains the spring loaded check strap if you are replacing the spring loaded check strap. Removing all 3 screws at one time will cause the loss of the threaded anchor plate. If this occurs, remove the taillamp and the taillamp pocket in order to access the cavity where the threaded plate is located.

  5. Remove the mounting bracket screw (3) .
  6. Remove the mounting bracket and the clip.
  7. Remove the trim panel. Refer to Door Trim Panel Replacement .
  8. Use a sharp-bladed tool, if needed, in order to separate the water deflector at the perforations. Refer to Rear Side Door Water Deflector Replacement .
  9. Remove the boot to bracket bolts.
  10. Remove the boot (6).
  11. Remove the bracket (5) and the check from the inside of the door.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the bracket (5) and the check to the door from the inside of the door.
  2. Install the boot (6).
  3. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the boot to the bracket bolts.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the bracket bolts to 6 N·m (53 lb in).

  6. Install the check assembly to the bracket.
  7. Install the water deflector. Refer to Rear Side Door Water Deflector Replacement .
  8. Install the trim panel. Refer to Door Trim Panel Replacement .

Removal Procedure

  1. Open the door.
  2. Remove the door trim panel. Refer to Rear Door Trim Panel Replacement .
  3. Use a sharp-bladed tool, if needed, in order to separate the water deflector at the perforations. Refer to Water Deflector Replacement .

  5. Lift the check assembly from the mounting bracket in order to remove the check assembly from the bracket.

  12. Remove the bracket (5) and the check from the inside of the door.

  1. Install the bracket and the check (5) to the door from the inside of the door.
  2. Install the boot (6).

    Tighten the bolts to the bracket to 6 N·m (53 lb in).

  6. Install the water deflector to the door. Refer to Water Deflector Replacement .
  7. Install the trim panel. Refer to Rear Door Trim Panel Replacement .
  8. Install the mounting bracket.
  9. Install the mounting bracket screws.
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the screws to 9 N·m (80 lb in).

  11. Install the check assembly to the vehicle.
