Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the air cleaner. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement in Engine Controls.

  2. Object Number: 280396  Size: SH
  3. Discharge and recover the refrigerant from the system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  4. Remove the grille. Refer to Grille Replacement in Exterior Trim.
  5. Remove the compressor and condenser hose assembly. Refer to Auxiliary Air Conditioning Compressor and Condenser Hose Replacement .
  6. Remove the evaporator tube from the condenser. Refer to Evaporator Tube Replacement .
  7. Remove the bolts that retain the condenser to the radiator.
  8. Remove the condenser.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 280396  Size: SH
  1. Install the condenser.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the bolts that retain the condenser to the radiator.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts that retain the condenser to the radiator to 6 N·m (53 lb in).

  5. Install the evaporator tube to the condenser. Refer to Evaporator Tube Replacement
  6. Install the compressor and condenser hose assembly. Refer to Auxiliary Air Conditioning Compressor and Condenser Hose Replacement .
  7. Install the grille. Refer to Grille Replacement
  8. Evacuate and charge the system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  9. Ensure that no leaks exist in the system.
  10. Install the air cleaner. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement in Engine Controls.
