Removal Procedure

Tools Required

    • J 25034-C Power Steering Pump Pulley Remover
    • J 25033-C Power Steering Pump Pulley Installer
  1. Remove the upper fan shroud. Refer to Engine Coolant Fan Upper Shroud Replacement in Engine Cooling.
  2. Remove the fan. Refer to Fan Replacement in Engine Cooling.
  3. Remove the lower fan shroud. Refer to Engine Coolant Fan Lower Shroud Replacement in Engine Cooling.
  4. Remove the air conditioning compressor. Refer to Air Conditioning Compressor Replacement in HVAC Systems with A/C - Manual.

  5. Object Number: 598507  Size: SH

    Notice: Do not hammer the pulley off the shaft. The pulley or the pump may be damaged.

  6. Remove the power steering pump pulley as follows:
  7. 5.1. Install theJ 25034-C .
    5.2. Hold the nut (2).
    5.3. Turn the pilot bolt clockwise (1).

  8. Remove the power steering pump mounting bolts and the nut.
  9. Place a drain pan under the power steering pump.
  10. Important: Cap or plug the ends of the power steering hoses to prevent fluid loss.

  11. Disconnect the power steering hoses from the pump. Refer to Power Steering Hoses Replacement .
  12. Remove the power steering pump.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 284251  Size: SH
  1. Install the power steering pump.
  2. Uncap the ends of the power steering hoses and install the hoses to the rear of the pump. Refer to Power Steering Hoses Replacement .
  3. Install the power steering pump mounting bolts and the nut .
  4. Tighten

        • Tighten the power steering mounting bolts to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).
        • Tighten the power steering nut to 41 N·m (30 lb ft).

    Notice: Do not hammer the pulley onto the shaft. The pulley or the pump may be damaged.

  5. Install the power steering pump pulley as follows:
  6. 4.1. Place the pulley on the end of the pump shaft.
    4.2. Install the J 25033-C .

    Ensure that the pilot bolt is bottomed in the shaft.

    4.3. Hold the pilot bolt (1).
    4.4. Turn the nut (2) clockwise until the pulley is seated.
  7. Install the air conditioning compressor. Refer to Air Conditioning Compressor Replacement in HVAC Systems with A/C - Manual.
  8. Install the lower fan shroud. Refer to Engine Coolant Fan Lower Shroud Replacement in Engine Cooling.
  9. Install the fan. Refer to Fan Replacement in Engine Cooling.
  10. Install the upper fan shroud. Refer to Engine Coolant Fan Upper Shroud Replacement in Engine Cooling.

  11. Object Number: 105105  Size: SH
  12. Fill the power steering reservoir with power steering fluid to the COLD/FULL mark. Refer to Checking and Adding Power Steering Fluid .
  13. Bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding .
  14. Inspect the power steering hoses for the following:
  15. • Leaks
    • Proper clearance
