Removal Procedure

    Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  1. Disconnect the battery negative cable.
  2. Disable the supplemental inflatable restraint (SIR) system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System in SIR.
  3. Remove the steering wheel inflator module. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Steering Wheel Module Replacement in SIR.

  4. Object Number: 245801  Size: SH
  5. Remove the horn plunger contact from the steering wheel.
  6. Remove the 4 screws that connect the horn contact switch to the steering wheel.
  7. Remove the horn switch assembly.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 245801  Size: SH
  1. Install the horn contact switch assembly to the steering wheel.
  2. Install the four screws.
  3. Tighten
    Tighten the screws until the screws are fully driven and seated. Do not strip the screws.

  4. Install the horn plunger contact to the cam tower in the steering wheel.
  5. Install the steering wheel inflator module to the steering wheel. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Steering Wheel Module Replacement in SIR.
  6. Enable the supplemental inflatable restraint (SIR) system. Refer to Enabling the SIR System in SIR.
  7. Connect the battery negative cable.
