Did you perform the Backup Lights System Check?

  1. Disconnect the park/neutral position and backup lamp switch.
  2. Place the ignition switch in the RUN position.
  3. Connect a test lampJ 35616-200 from CKT 139 (PNK) cavity C2 at the park/neutral position and backup lamp switch to ground.

Does the test lamp light?

--

Connect a fused jumper between CKT 139 (PNK) cavity C and CKT 24 (LT GRN) cavity F of the park/neutral position and backup lamp switch connector C2.

Does the backup lamp light?

--

Go to Step 5

Repair the open in CKT 139 (PNK) between the instrument panel fuse block and the park/neutral position and backup lamp switch.

Is the repair complete?

--

Go to Backup Lamp System Check

Inspect the adjustment of the park/neutral position and backup lamp switch.

Is the adjustment proper?

--

Go to Step 6

Replace the park/neutral position and backup lamp switch. Refer to Park/Neutral Position Switch Replacement in Transmission.

Is the replacement complete?

Repair the open in CKT 24 (LT GRN) between the park/neutral position and backup lamp switch and splice S321.

Is the repair complete?

Adjust the park/neutral position and the backup lamp switch. Refer to Park/Neutral Position Switch Adjustment .

  1. Disconnect Park/Neutral Position and Backup Lamp Switch C2 Connector.
  2. Place Ignition Switch in the RUN position.
  3. Connect a test lamp from Park/Neutral Position and Backup Lamp Swithc PNK (139) wire cavity C to ground.

Does the test lamp light?

Connect a fused jumper between PNK (139) wire cavity C and LT GRN (24) wire cavity F of the Park/Neutral Position and Backup Lamp Switch Connector C2.

Does the Backup Lamps light?

  1. Reconnect the Park/Neutral Position and Backup Lamp Switch.
  2. Disconnect Backup Lamp Connector C355.
  3. Connect a test lamp from Backup Lamp Connector LT GRN (24) wire cavity A to ground.

Does the test lamp light?

  1. Reconnect Backup Lamp Connector C355.
  2. Connect a test lamp from S410 to ground.

Does the test lamp light?

Connect a test lamp from S410 to S411.

Locate and repair open in PNK (139) wire between I/P Fuse Block and Park /Neutral Position and Backup Lamp Switch.

Is the repair complete?

Check adjustment of Park/Neutral Position and Backup Lamp Switch. If OK, replace Switch.

Is the repair complete?

Locate and repair open in LT GRN (24) wire between Backup Lamp Connector C355 and the Park/Neutral Position and Backup Lamp Switch.

Is the repair complete?

Locate and repair open in LT GRN (24) wire between S410 and C355.

Is the repair complete?

--

Go to Backup Lamp System Check

Locate and repair poor or corroded connections at S410 and S411.

Is the repair complete?

Locate and repair open in BLK (150) wire between S411 and C355 or BLK (550) wire between C355 and S117.
