Did you perform the Headlights System Check?

  1. Turn the headlamp and panel dimmer switch to the ON position.
  2. Move the headlamp dimmer switch to the LO position.
  3. Use a test lampJ 35616-200 to backprobe CKT 12 (TAN) cavity A at the headlamp dimmer switch to ground.

Does the test lamp light?

Replace the headlamp dimmer switch. Refer to Headlamp Switch Replacement .

Is the replacement complete?

Go to Headlight System Check

  1. Turn the headlamp and panel dimmer switch to the OFF position.
  2. Remove the DRL Relay from the convenience center.
  3. Place a fused jumper wire across cavities G2 and H1.
  4. Check for continuity between cavity A of the headlamp dimmer switch and cavity C of C102.

Does the DMM indicate continuity?

Replace the DRL Relay.

Repair OPEN in CKT 359 (PPL) or CKT 12 (TAN).

Check LIGHTING Fuse 8 at the Underhood Fuse/Relay Center.

Is the fuse functional?

Locate overload and replace LIGHTING Fuse.

Is the repair complete?

  1. Place Headlamp Switch in the HEAD position and Headlamp Dimmer Switch in LOW BEAM position.
  2. Connect a test lamp J 35616-200 from CKT 12 (TAN) wire at inoperative Headlamp to ground.

Does the test lamp light?

Go to Step 5

Connect a test lamp J 35616-200 from CKT 12 (TAN) wire to BLK (250 or 350) wire at inoperative Headlamp.

Does the test lamp light?

Go to Step 9

Connect a test lamp J 35616-200 from CKT 12 (TAN) wire cavity C at C102 to ground.

Does the test lamp light?

Connect a test lamp J 35616-200 from CKT 12 (TAN) wire at C201 cavity E12 to ground.

Does the test lamp light?

Connect a test lamp J 35616-200 from CKT 12 (TAN) wire at Headlamp Dimmer Switch.

Does the test lamp light?

Locate and repair open in CKT 250 or 350 (BLK) wire from inoperative Headlamp to ground.

Locate and repair open in CKT 12 (TAN) wire between C102 and inoperative Headlamp.

Is the repair complete?

Locate and repair open in CKT 12 (TAN) wire between C102 cavity E12 and C201 cavity C.

Is the repair complete?

Locate and repair open in CKT 12 (TAN) wire between Headlamp Dimmer Switch and C201 cavity E12.

Is the repair complete?
