Headlights Circuit Description Non VE1
Voltage is available to the headlamp and panel dimmer switch
at all times. The headlamp and panel dimmer switch includes a self-resetting
circuit breaker. The circuit breaker opens when the headlamp and panel
dimmer switch draws too much current. When the circuit breaker opens,
the current flow interrupts. The circuit breaker cools off and resets
automatically.
The headlamp dimmer switch directs the voltage to either the low beam
headlamps or the high beam headlamps, depending on the headlamp dimmer switch
position. When the headlamp and panel dimmer switch is
in the HEAD position the daytime running lamps (DRL) module receives a
headlamps ON signal. The DRL operation disables when the DRL module receives
the signal when the ignition is in the following positions:
Voltage applies through the closed contacts of the headlamp and panel
dimmer switch and the headlamp dimmer switch to the left side and the right
side low beam headlamps when the following conditions exist:
• | The headlamp and panel dimmer switch is in the HEAD position. |
• | The headlamp dimmer switch is in the LO position. |
The G100 supplies the ground to the right side low beam headlamp and
G101 for the left side low beam headlamp.
Voltage applies to the following components when the headlamp dimmer
switch moves to the HI position with the headlamp and panel dimmer switch
in the HEAD position:
• | The closed contacts of the headlamp and panel dimmer switch |
• | The headlamp dimmer switch to the left side high beam headlamp |
• | The right side high beam headlamp |
The voltage applies to the high beam indicator and grounds through G110
when the headlamp dimmer switch is in the HI position. G100 supplies the ground
for the right side headlamps. G101 supplies the ground to the left side
headlamps.

Circuit Description
Headlamps
Voltage is supplied to the Headlamp and Panel Dimmer Switch at all times.
The Headlamp Switch includes a Self-Resetting Circuit Breaker. The Circuit
Breaker opens when the Headlamp circuit draws too much current. When the Circuit
Breaker opens, it interrupts the current flow. With no current flow, the Circuit
Breaker cools off and resets automatically. When the Headlamp Switch is in
the HEAD position, the Headlamp Dimmer Switch directs voltage to either the
Low Beams or High Beams. The High Beam indicator also receives voltage along
with the High Beams.
