THE ON/OFF Switch
The multifunction lever contains the ON/OFF position slide switch. The switch controls electrical power to the cruise control system. When the switch is OFF, you can not engage the system. When the switch is ON, you can engage the cruise control system using either the SET or RESUME switch. The cruise control system will not function at speeds less than approximately 40 km/h (25 mph).
The SET/COAST Switch
The SET/COAST switch controls the following 3 functions:

| • | The COAST (Trim) function |
| • | The TAP DOWN function |
The SET Function
Use the SET function in order to set the cruise control at a particular speed. Engage the SET function in the following manner:
- Ensure that the vehicle speed is above the low speed point.
- Place the ON/OFF switch in the ON position.
- Depress and release the SET/COAST switch
The cruise speed will be set within 1.6 km/h (1 mph) of the speed the vehicle was travelling when you released the button. The vehicle will continue to cruise until one of the following events occurs:
| • | The ON/OFF switch is moved to the OFF position |
| • | The ignition switch is turned OFF |
| • | The SET/COAST switch is pushed in fully and held. |
Depressing the brake pedal will also disengage the cruise control. However, when you use this method, the memory retains the set speed, allowing the cruise control function to resume at a later time.
The COAST (Trim) Function
use the COAST/TRIM function in order to raise or lower the cruise control speed. Use the COAST (Trim) function in the following manner to increase the vehicle speed:
- Accelerate the vehicle to a higher speed.
- Fully depress the SET/COAST button. The VCM will release the previously set speed.
- Release the SET/COAST button. The cruise control is now set at the higher speed.
Use the COAST (Trim) function as follows in order to decrease the vehicle speed:
- Fully depress the SET/COAST button to disengage the cruise control system.
- Allow the vehicle to slow to the desired speed.
- Release the SET/COAST button. The cruise control is now reset at the lower speed.
The TAP DOWN Function
Use the TAP DOWN function in order to incrementally decrease the cruise speed. For TAP DOWN to operate, the cruise control must be engaged. To decrease the vehicle speed by increments of 1.6 km/h (1 mph) proceed as follows:
- Quickly depress and release the SET/COAST button. Vehicle speed will decrease by 1.6 km/h.
- Continue to quickly depress and release the SET/COAST button until the vehicle is travelling at the desired speed.
Do not hold the button in the depressed position, or the system will revert to the COAST mode. The system can TAP DOWN to 40 km/h (25 mph). This is the lowest speed at which the cruise control system will engage. The system was not designed to operate at speeds lower than 40 km/h (25 mph)
The accelerator can be depressed at any time to override the cruise system. Releasing the accelerator will return the vehicle to the previously set cruise speed.
The RESUME/ACCEL Switch
The RESUME/ACCEL switch controls the following 3 functions:
| • | The RESUME function |
| • | The ACCELERATE function |
| • | The TAP UP function |
The RESUME Function
Use the RESUME function in order to reactivate the cruise control system after the system has been disengaged by pressing the brake pedal. Momentarily depressing the RESUME/ACCEL switch will reactivate the system, causing the vehicle to accelerate to the previously set speed.
The RESUME function will not operate under the following circumstances:
| • | The ON/OFF switch has been cycled since the last time the cruise control was active. |
| • | The ignition has been switched OFF since the last time the cruise control was active. |
| • | The vehicle speed is below the minimum speed of 40 km/h (25 mph) required for the operation of the cruise control system. |
The ACCELERATE Function
Use the ACCELERATE function in order to steadily increase the cruise speed. In order for the ACCELERATE function to operate, the following conditions must apply:
| • | The ON/OFF switch must be in the ON position |
| • | The vehicle speed must be above 40 km/h (25 mph). |
Use the ACCELERATE function as follows to increase the vehicle speed:
- Slide the RESUME/ACCELERATE switch. Hold the switch in position.
- Accelerate the vehicle to the desired speed.
- Release the RESUME/ACCELERATE switch. The cruise control is now reset at the higher speed.
The ACCELERATE function will not operate unless the ON/OFF switch is in the ON position
The TAP UP Function
Use the TAP UP function in order to incrementally increase the cruise speed. For TAP UP to operate, the cruise control must be engaged. In order to increase the vehicle speed by increments of 1.6 km/h (1 mph) proceed as follows:
- Quickly press the slide switch toward the RESUME/ACCEL position, then release the switch. Vehicle speed will increase by 1.6 km/h.
- Continue to quickly depress and release the RESUME/ACCEL switch until the vehicle is travelling at the desired speed.
Do not hold the switch in the RESUME/ACCEL position, or the system will revert to the ACCEL mode. The cruise control system cannot TAP UP beyond 201 km/h (125 mph).
