  1. Raise the front end of the vehicle off the ground until the tires and the wheels turn freely.
  2. Place a large container under the fluid return hose in order to catch the draining fluid.
  3. Remove the fluid return hose at the power steering pump inlet connector.
  4. Plug the inlet connector port on the pump.
  5. Run the engine at idle while an assistant fills the reservoir with new power steering fluid.

  7. Turn the wheel back and forth, fully to the left and fully to the right.
  8. Do not hold the wheel at a stop or a sudden overflow from the fluid reservoir may occur.

  9. Install all of the pipes and hoses.
  10. Fill the system with new power steering fluid and bleed the system. Refer to cell-id="54933">Checking and Adding Power Steering Fluid> and cell-id="54931">Bleeding Power Steering System> .
  11. Operate the engine for approximately 15 minutes.
  12. Remove the pump return hose at the pump outlet and plug the connection on the pump.
  13. Refill the reservoir and check the draining fluid for contamination.
  14. If foreign material is still found, replace all of the hoses. Refer to cell-id="55172">Power Brake Booster Inlet Hose Replacement> or cell-id="55173">Power Brake Booster Outlet Hose Replacement> .

  15. Disassemble and clean the power steering components, or replace the components as necessary.
  16. Do not reuse any drained power steering fluid.
