Blower Motor Resistor Replacement RPO C60

Removal Procedure

Important: The blower motor relay that is in the M/L van is an integral part of the blower motor resistor and can not be serviced separately from the resistor.

  1. Remove the air cleaner. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement in Engine Controls.
  2. Disconnect the electrical connectors.
  3. Remove the screws from the blower motor resistor.
  4. It is not necessary to remove the heater case.

  5. Remove the blower motor resistor (4).

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the blower motor resistor (4).
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the screws to the blower motor resistor.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the blower motor resistor screws to 2 N·m (18 lb in).

  5. Connect the electrical connectors.
  6. Install the air cleaner. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement in Engine Controls.
  7. Inspect the circuit for proper operation.

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the air cleaner. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement in Engine Controls.
  2. Remove the windshield washers and the coolant reservoir for access. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging in Engine Coolant.
  3. Disconnect the electrical connectors.
  4. Remove the screws from the blower motor resistor.

  5. Connect the electrical connectors.

  7. Ensure that the circuit operates properly.
  8. Install the air cleaner. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement in Engine Controls.
