Did you perform the Lighting Diagnostic System Check?

  1. Disconnect the trailer tow wiring to the trailer, if equipped.
  2. Ensure that the trailer tow wiring does not cause the stop lamps to remain ON.
  3. Disconnect the Brake Pedal Position switch.

Do all of the stop lamps remain ON?

Disconnect the turn/hazard switch connector (part of C201).

Does the center high mounted stop lamp remain ON?

Go to Step 5

Replace the Brake Pedal Position switch. Refer to Stop Lamp Switch Replacement in Hydraulic Brakes.

Is the repair complete?

--

Go to Step 12

Repair the short to voltage in CKT 17 (WHT) between the following components:

    • Connector C201
    • The brake pedal position switch
    • The cruise control module
    • The center high mounted stop lamp
    • The CHMSL resistor
    • The trailer tow harness

Is the repair complete?

Go to Step 12

Inspect the other stop lamps with the turn/hazard switch connector (part of C201) still disconnected.

Does the left side stop lamp remain ON?

Repair the short to voltage in CKT 18 (YEL) between the following components:

    • Connector C201
    • The left side stop lamp
    • The trailer tow harness

Is the repair complete?

Go to Step 12

Inspect the other stop lamps with the turn/hazard switch connector (part of C201) still disconnected.

Does the right side stop lamp remain ON?

Go to Step 9

Repair the short to voltage in CKT 19 (DK GRN) between the following components:

    • Connector C201
    • The right side stop/lamp
    • The trailer tow harness

Is the repair complete?

Go to Step 12

Inspect all of the stop/lamps with the turn/hazard switch connector (part of C201) still disconnected.

Do any of the stop lamps remain on?

Go to Step 2

Replace the turn/hazard switch. Refer to Multifunction, Turn Signal, and Hazard Switch Replacement - On Vehicle in Steering.

Is the replacement complete?

Go to Step 12

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
