  1. Apply and hold the brake pedal.
  2. Verify that the center high mount stoplamp (CHMSL) is inoperative along with the left and right stoplamp.

Is the CHMSL also inoperative?

Go to Step 3

  1. Disconnect the brake pedal position switch.
  2. Connect a test lamp from CKT 140 (ORN) cavity B and the brake pedal position switch to ground.

Does the test lamp light?

 

Go to Step 4

Connect a fused jumper from CKT 17 (WHT) cavity A to CKT 140 (ORN) cavity B of the brake pedal position switch.

Do the stop lamps light?

Repair the open in CKT 140 (ORN) between the brake pedal position switch and splice S221

Is the repair complete?

--

Go to Step 11

Replace the brake pedal position switch. Refer to Stop Lamp Switch Replacement in Hydraulic Brakes.

Repair the open in CKT 17 (WHT) between the brake pedal position switch and the CHMSL assembly.

Using a test light, backprobe CKT 17 (WHT) convertor C201 cavity A1 at the turn/hazard switch (to ground).

Does the test lamp light?

--

Go to Step 10

Repair the open in CKT 17 (WHT) between turn/hazard switch connector C201 and the CHMSL assembly.

Is the repair complete?

Replace the turn/hazard switch Multifunction, Turn Signal, and Hazard Switch Replacement - On Vehicle

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
