Voltage to the rear liftgate release system is available at all times. The voltage is available through the CIG LTR fuse 13 and CKT 640 (ORN). This key-operated liftgate lock/unlock release switch serves two purposes. The switch locks and unlocks all of the power locks, including the liftgate rear door lock motor. When an unlock signal is sent, the liftgate lock/unlock relay moves to the UNLOCK position. The relay contacts close, which completes the circuit through the liftgate lock/unlock relay to the rear liftgate release motor. The rear liftgate lock/unlock relay must be in the UNLOCK position in order for the liftgate lock/unlock release switch to function.

The electrical circuit completes under the following conditions:

    • The liftgate lock/unlock relay is in the UNLOCK position
    • The liftgate lock/unlock release switch button is depressed

The circuit completes from the liftgate lock/unlock release switch through CKT 1305 (PPL) to the liftgate lock/unlock relay and through the relay's contacts to the rear liftgate release motor. The rear liftgate release motor receives ground through CKT 1450 (BLK) to G403.

Unlock the door lock system with any of the following components:

    • The liftgate lock/unlock release switch (mechanical key)
    • The LH power door lock switch
    • The RH power door lock switch
    • The RKE (if equipped) will release the rear window through the rear door unlock relay located in relay center 1. This relay is enabled through the Body Control Module (BCM), which is triggered by the RKE activation signal.

Once the door lock system is unlocked, perform the following actions simultaneously:

    • Press the liftgate release switch in order to electronically open the liftgate
    • Pull the handle in order to release the secondary latch
