Removal Procedure
- Raise the vehicle. Refer
to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
in General Information.
- Clean all dirt and foreign material from the brake hoses and brake
pipe fitting.
Important: Install a rubber cap or plug to the exposed brake pipe fitting ends
in order to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.
- Use a backup wrench on the hose fitting, disconnect the brake pipe fittings
from the junction block, then cap or plug the brake pipe fitting ends.
Do not bend the brake pipe or the bracket.
- Disconnect the brake pipe
fitting (9).
- Remove the brake hose retaining clip (2).
- Remove the junction block bolt (5).
- Remove the rear brake hose (4).
Installation Procedure
- Install the rear brake
hose (4).
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the junction
block bolt (5).
Tighten
Tighten the junction block bolt to 17 N·m (13 lb ft).
- Install the brake hose retaining clip (2).
- Connect the brake pipe fitting (9).
Tighten
Tighten the brake pipe fitting to 17 N·m (13 lb ft).
- Loosely connect the rear
brake pipe fittings to the junction block.
Tighten
Using a backup wrench, tighten the rear brake pipe fittings to 17 N·m
(13 lb ft).
- Ensure that the hose does not make contact with any part of the
suspension. Check the hose in extreme right and extreme left turn conditions.
If the hose makes contact, remove the hose and correct the condition.
- Bleed the hydraulic brake system. Refer to
Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding
.
- Lower the vehicle.
