During major component removal, a separator tool should be used to remove and replace the transmission oil cooler inlet and outlet pipe lines from the quick connect fittings located at the radiator on the above subject vehicles. Because access is limited to the transmission oil cooler inlet and outlet fittings at the radiator, fitting removal from the radiator is difficult. (Refer to Figure 1). Use of a separator tool allows easier removal of the pipe lines and aids in preventing possible pipe/line fitting damage.
Kent-Moore has available a fuel line quick connect separator currently used in the automobile industry that can also be utilized for removal and replacement of the transmission oil cooler pipes on 1990 L vans equipped with automatic transmissions.
