Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to

    Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  2. Raise and support the vehicle with a suitable safety stand.

  3. Object Number: 44402  Size: SH
  4. Remove the starter motor mounting bolts.
  5. Remove any shims previously used.

  6. Object Number: 44403  Size: SH
  7. Lower the starter motor.
  8. Disconnect the starter solenoid field leads.
  9. Remove the starter motor.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 44403  Size: SH
  1. Ensure that the inner solenoid terminal nuts are snug at the B and S terminals.
  2. Connect the starter solenoid field leads to the solenoid terminals.
  3. Install the outer nuts to the solenoid terminals.

  4. Object Number: 44402  Size: SH
  5. Install the two starter motor mounting bolts and ths shims through the starter to the engine.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 43 N·m (32 lb ft).

  7. Lower the vehicle.
  8. Connect the negative battery cable.
