DEFINITION: Battery indicator stays on when engine is running.

1. Turn OFF the ignition switch.
2. Disconnect the generator connector.
3. Turn ON the ignition switch.

Does the battery indicator remain lit?

Replace the generator. Refer to Generator Replacement.

Does the battery indicator stay on all the time?

Go to Step 4

System OK

1. Locate and repair a short to ground in BRN (25) wire from the generator connector to the I/P cluster connector.
2. If BRN (25) wire tested OK, replace the I/P cluster.

Is the repair complete?

1. Turn OFF the ignition switch.
2. Connect an ohmmeter between the I/P cluster connector BRN (25) wire cavity B16 and ground.

Does the ohmmeter show the resistance above the specified value?

10 ohms

Go to Step 5

Go to Step 6

Replace the I/P cluster.

Is the repair complete?

Locate and repair a short to ground in BRN (25) wire from the generator connector to the I/P cluster connector.
