  1. Apply sealant GM P/N 12346141 or equivalent to the front cover to block joint for 25 mm (1 in.) in both directions from each of the four corners.

  2. Object Number: 32080 Size: SH
  3. Apply sealant GM P/N 12346141 or equivalent to the rear crankshaft seal to block joint for 25 mm (1 in.) in both directions from each of the four corners.

  4. Object Number: 4552 Size: SH

    Object Number: 38481 Size: SH
  11. Use a feeler gage in order to check the clearance between the three oil pan-to-transmission contact points. If the clearance exceeds 0.254 mm (0.010 in.) at any of the three points repeat the installation steps until the clearance is within specification.
  12. Tighten
Tighten the oil pan bolts and the studs in sequence to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  13. Reconnect the transmission oil cooler lines.
  14. Install the starter shield.
  15. Install the starter. Refer to Engine Electrical.
