Removal Procedure

  1. Place a container under the power steering system in order to catch the fluid when disconnecting or connecting the power steering hoses.
  2. Draw all of the fluid out of the reservoir in order to avoid spills.

  3. Object Number: 284256  Size: SH
  4. Disconnect the hose clamps at the reservoir.
  5. Remove the attaching bolts.
  6. Remove the reservoir (1).

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the reservoir (1).
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the attaching bolts.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 4 N·m (35 lb in).

  5. Connect the hose clamps at the reservoir.
  6. Fill the power steering reservoir with power steering fluid to the COLD/FULL mark. Use the proper fluid. Refer to Fluid and Lubricant Recommendations in Maintenance and Lubrication.
