Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the air cleaner. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement in Engine Controls.

  2. Object Number: 280256  Size: SH
  3. Drain the engine coolant. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling in Engine Cooling.
  4. Remove the hose clamps.
  5. Remove the hose support clamps (4), the brackets, and/or the retainers, as necessary.
  6. Disconnect the inlet (3) and the outlet (2) hoses from the fittings.
  7. Disconnect the inlet (3) and the outlet (2) hoses from the water valve.

Installation Procedure

  1. Connect the inlet (3) and the outlet (2) hoses to the water valve.
  2. Connect the inlet (3) and the outlet (2) hoses to the fittings.
  3. Install the hose support clamps (4), the brackets, and/or the retainers.
  4. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Install the hose support clamps.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the hose support clamps to 4 N·m (35 lb in).

  7. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling in Engine Cooling.
  8. Ensure that no leaks exist in the cooling system.
  9. Install the air cleaner. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement in Engine Controls.
