- Place the multifunction lever in the center or the OFF position.
Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing
any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to
the vehicle or its components.
- Disconnect
the battery negative cable.
- Disable the SIR system. Refer to
Disabling the SIR System
in SIR.
- Remove the steering wheel inflator module. Refer to
Steering Wheel Inflator Module Replacement
.
- Remove the horn plunger contact. Refer to
Horn Switch Replacement - On Vehicle
.
- Remove the steering wheel. Refer to
Steering Wheel Replacement
.
- Remove the tilt wheel lever.
- Remove the ignition lock cylinder. Refer to
Ignition Lock Cylinder Replacement - On Vehicle
.
- Remove the upper steering column trim cover.
- Remove the wire harness
strap.
- Remove the 2 wire harness straps from the steering column wire
harness.
- Remove the steering column wire harness from the instrument panel
wire harness.
- Disconnect the gray and the black switch connectors from the steering
column connector.
- Remove the 2 TORX® screws.
- Remove the multifunction turn signal/hazard switch assembly.
Installation Procedure
- Install the multifunction
turn signal/hazard switch assembly as follows:
1.1. | Use a small blade screwdriver in order to compress the electrical
contact. |
1.2. | Move the multifunction switch into position. The multifunction
switch electrical contact must rest on the cancelling cam assembly. |
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the 2 TORX®
screws.
Tighten
Tighten the 2 TORX® screws to 7 N·m (62 lb in).
- Connect the gray and the black switch connectors to the steering
column connector.
- Connect the steering column connector to the instrument panel
wire harness.
- Install the 2 wire harness straps to the steering column wire
harness.
- Install the wire harness strap.
- Install the upper steering column trim cover.
- Install the ignition lock cylinder. Refer to
Ignition Lock Cylinder Replacement - On Vehicle
.
- Place the lever in the center or the OFF position.
- Install the steering wheel. Refer to
Steering Wheel Replacement
.
- Install the horn plunger contact. Refer to
Horn Switch Replacement - On Vehicle
.
- Install the steering wheel inflator module. Refer to
Steering Wheel Inflator Module Replacement
.
- Enable the SIR System. Refer to
Enabling the SIR System
in SIR.
- Connect the battery negative cable.
