Removal Procedure

Tools Required

    • J 9886-01 Regulator Handle Tool
    • J 38778 Door Trim Pad and Garnish Clip Remover

  1. Remove the two screws and the armrest cover (YC5).

  2. Object Number: 319072  Size: SH
  3. Remove the window handle, if equipped.

  4. Object Number: 319092  Size: SH
  5. Pull out on the lock lever escutcheon, starting with the front edge, in order to remove the lock lever escutcheon.

  6. Object Number: 319102  Size: SH
  7. Pull out on the top edge and pivot down in order to clear the tab at the trim panel and remove the upper corner trim (YC6 and YC7).
  8. Remove the two caps that cover the screws retaining the assist handle.
  9. Remove the two screws that retain the handle to the door.
  10. Remove the one screw at the front edge of the accessory switch mount plate.
  11. Remove the plate from the trim panel.
  12. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the switches on the plate, as needed.
  13. Remove the door courtesy lamp assembly from the door panel, if equipped. Refer to Door Courtesy Lamp and Reflector Replacement in Lighting Systems.
  14. Use J 38778 in order to remove the trim panel retainers from the door.
  15. Remove the trim panel from the door.

Installation Procedure

    Important: Use fasteners that can be reset and reused for the front side door trim panels. Replacement is required if the fasteners were damaged during removal.

  1. Install the trim panel retainers to the trim panel.
  2. Place the window seal portion of the panel over the door frame in order to install the trim panel to the door.
  3. Install the door courtesy lamp assembly to the door panel. Refer to Door Courtesy Lamp and Reflector Replacement in Lighting Systems.
  4. Connect the electrical connectors to the switches on the accessory switch mounting plate, as needed.
  5. Install the plate to the trim panel.
  6. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  7. Install the one screw at the front edge of the accessory switch mount plate.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the one screw at the front edge of the accessory switch mount plate to 2 N·m (18 lb in).

  9. Install the handle to the door with two screws.
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the handle to the door with two screws to 5 N·m (44 lb in).

  11. Install the two caps that cover the screws on the assist handle.

  12. Object Number: 319102  Size: SH
  13. Insert the tab in the slot on the door trim panel and seat the fastener into the door at the top (YC6 and YC7) in order to install the upper corner trim.

  14. Object Number: 319092  Size: SH
  15. Snap the lock lever escutcheon into place, starting at the rear edge.

  16. Object Number: 319072  Size: SH
  17. Install the window handle, if equipped.

  18. Object Number: 319057  Size: SH
  19. Install the armrest cover with two screws (YC5).
  20. Tighten
    Tighten the armrest cover with two screws to 5 N·m (44 lb in).
