Engine Mount Replacement Front

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 367585  Size: SH

    Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

    Notice: Broken or deteriorated mounts can cause misalignment and destruction of certain drive train components. When a single mount breaks, the remaining mounts are subjected to abnormally high stresses.

  1. Disconnect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Replacement in Engine Electrical.
  2. Raise the vehicle and install safety stands. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  3. In order to remove the right side engine mount perform the following:
  4. 3.1. Remove the right front tire. Refer to Wheel Removal in Tire and Wheels.
    3.2. Remove the right fender wheelhouse extension. Refer to Wheelhouse Extension Replacement in Body Front End.
    3.3. Remove the starter. Refer to Starter Motor Replacement in Engine Electrical.
  5. Remove the engine mount through-bolt and nut for the side being replaced.

    Notice: When raising or supporting the engine for any reason, do not use a jack under the oil pan, any sheet metal, or the crankshaft pulley. Lifting the engine in an unapproved manner may cause component damage.

  7. Using a jack on the square tab (left side shown) at the rear of the engine block, raise the engine only enough to remove the engine mount. In order to access the square tab on the right side remove the starter.

  9. Remove the bolts for the engine mount bracket to the engine.
  10. Access the upper two bolts for the right engine mount bracket through the fender wheelhouse.

  11. Remove the engine mount bracket.

  13. Remove the bolts for the engine mount to the frame.
  14. Remove the engine mount.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the engine mount to the frame.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the engine mount to the frame bolts.
  4. Tighten

        • Tighten the engine mount bolts for Four Wheel Drive vehicles to 59 N·m (44 lb ft).
        • Tighten the engine mount bolts for RWD vehicles to 47 N·m (35 lb ft).

  5. Install the engine mount bracket to the engine.
  6. Install the engine mount bracket bolts.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the engine mount bracket bolts to 55 N·m (41 lb ft).

  8. Lower the engine.
  9. Install the engine mount through- bolt and the nut.
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 68 N·m (50 lb ft).

  11. Install the starter. Refer to Starter Motor Replacement in Engine Electrical.
  12. Install the right fender wheelhouse extension. Refer to Wheelhouse Extension Replacement in Body Front End.
  13. Install the right front tire. Refer to Wheel Installation in Tire and Wheels.
  14. Lower the vehicle.
  15. Connect the batter negative cable. Refer to Battery Replacement in Engine Electrical.

Engine Mount Replacement Rear

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 339139  Size: SH

    Notice: Broken or deteriorated mounts can cause misalignment and destruction of certain drive train components. When a single mount breaks, the remaining mounts are subjected to abnormally high stresses.

  1. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Remove the nut holding the rear engine mount to the transmission support.

  3. Object Number: 339147  Size: SH
  4. Remove the mount to transmission bolts.
  5. Raise the transmission using a suitable transmission jack, just enough in order to permit the removal of the mount.

  6. Object Number: 339174  Size: SH
  7. Remove the mount.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the mount.

  2. Object Number: 339147  Size: SH
  3. Loosely install the mount to transmission bolts.
  4. Lower the transmission.

  5. Object Number: 339139  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  6. Install the nut holding the rear engine mount to the transmission support.
  7. Tighten

        • Tighten the nut to 45 N·m (33 lb ft).
        • Tighten the bolt to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).
  8. Lower the vehicle.

Engine Mount Replacement Rear 4WD

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 339227  Size: SH

    Notice: Broken or deteriorated mounts can cause misalignment and destruction of certain drive train components. When a single mount breaks, the remaining mounts are subjected to abnormally high stresses.

  1. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Remove the nuts holding the rear engine mount to the transmission support and underbody shield.

  3. Object Number: 1303  Size: SH
  4. Remove the mount to transmission bolts.
  5. Raise and support the transmission using a suitable transmission jack, just enough in order to permit mount removal.

  6. Object Number: 339223  Size: SH
  7. Remove the mount.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the mount.

  2. Object Number: 1303  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application.   3. Install the mount to transmission bolts.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).

  5. Lower the transmission.

  8. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 45 N·m (33 lb ft).

  9. Lower the vehicle.
