Lead/Pull Correction Table

Inspect the tire/wheel assemblies for the following:

    • Correct tire pressure. Refer to Tire Inflation Pressure Specifications in Maintenance and Lubrication.
    • Correct tire size. Refer to Vehicle Certification Label in General Information.
    • Excessive radial/lateral runout.
    • Tire/wheel assembly out of balance. Refer to Tire and Wheel Balancing in Vibration Diagnosis and Correction.

Repair/replace the tire/wheel assemblies as necessary.

Is the repair complete?

Inspect the front/rear suspensions for the following:

    • Damage
    • Excessive wear
    • Loose components
    • Excessive wheel bearing play (RWD)
    • Excessive hub/flange runout. (F4WD) Refer to Tire and Wheel Vibration in Vibration Diagnosis and Correction.

Do any of the above conditions apply?

  1. Repair/replace components as necessary.
  2. Tighten components to specifications. Refer to Fastener Tightening Specifications in Front Suspension or Fastener Tightening Specifications in Rear Suspension.
  3. Adjust the wheel bearings (RWD). Refer to Wheel Bearing Adjustment in Front Suspension.
  4. Replace the wheel hub (F4WD). Refer to Front Wheel Hub, Bearing, and Seal Replacement in Front Suspension.

Is the repair complete?

Inspect the power steering gear and pump for the following:

    • Damage
    • Excessive wear

  1. Cross-switch the front tire/wheel assemblies.
  2. Road test the vehicle on a smooth level surface.

Does the vehicle still lead/pull?

  1. Cross-switch the left front tire/wheel assembly with the left rear tire/wheel assembly.
  2. Road test the vehicle on a smooth level surface.

Does the vehicle still lead/pull?

  1. Cross-switch the right front tire/wheel assembly with the right rear tire/wheel assembly.
  2. Road test the vehicle on a smooth level surface.

Does the vehicle still lead/pull?
