Removal Procedure
- Release the parking brake.
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
in General Information.
- Disconnect the rear cables from the equalizer. Refer to
Park Brake Cable Equalizer Replacement
.
- Remove the rear cables from the mounting bracket by depressing the retaining
tabs and pulling rearward.
- Remove the cable support bracket bolts.
- Remove the cable support bracket.
Installation Procedure
- Install the cable support bracket.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the cable support bracket bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 24 N·m (18 lb ft).
- Install the rear cables to the mounting bracket by inserting the cable
until all the retaining tabs snap into place.
- Connect the rear cables to the equalizer. Refer to
Park Brake Cable Equalizer Replacement
.
- Remove the safety stands and lower the vehicle.
