Did you perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle?

  1. Install a scan tool.
  2. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  3. Buckle the left front (LF) seat belt.
  4. With a scan tool, observe the seat belt buckled parameter in the body control module data list.

Does the scan tool indicate that the seat belt is buckled?

Go to Step 8

  1. Disconnect the LF seat belt switch connector.
  2. With a scan tool, observe the seat belt buckled parameter in the body control module data list.

Does the seat belt parameter change state?

Go to Step 5

Go to Step 6

Replace the LF seat belt switch. Refer to Front Seat Belt Buckle Replacement .

Did you complete the replacement?

Go to Step 9

Test the signal circuit of the seat belt switch for a short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 9

Replace the body control module (BCM). Refer to Control Module References in Computer/Integrating Systems for replacement, setup, and programming.

Did you complete the replacement?

Replace the instrument panel cluster (IPC). Refer to Control Module References in Computer/Integrating Systems for replacement, setup, and programming.

Did you complete the replacement?

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.

Did you correct the condition?
