Test Description

The numbers below refer to the step numbers on the diagnostic table.

  1. The passenger power window switch on the master switch, shares common accessory voltage and ground circuits with the left front window switch. If the passenger power window operates properly from the master switch the accessory voltage and ground circuits can be presumed good.

Did you perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle?

  1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  2. Operate the driver power window from the master switch

Does the driver power window operate normally?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

Operate the passenger window from the master switch.

Does the passenger window operate properly?

Go to Step 4

Go to Power Windows Inoperative - All

  1. Disconnect the driver power window motor.
  2. Connect a test lamp between the power window motor left front up circuit at the driver power window motor harness connector and a good ground.
  3. Operate the driver power window in the up direction.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 5

  1. Connect a test lamp between the power window motor left front down circuit at the driver power window motor harness connector and a good ground.
  2. Operate the driver power window in the down direction.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 6

  1. Connect a test lamp between the power window motor left front up and down circuits at the driver power window motor harness connector.
  2. Operate the driver power window in the up and down directions.

Does the test lamp illuminate in both directions?

Go to Step 10

Test for an open in the power window motor left front up circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 13

Test for an open in the power window motor left front down circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Inspect for poor connections at the power window master switch. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Inspect for poor connections at the driver power window motor. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the driver window master switch. Refer to Power Accessory Switch Panel Replacement .

Did you complete the repair?

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
