2004 Chevrolet Avalanche Insufficient Cooling of the A/C System - kw AC air condition charge cool cold compressor hot HVAC Inoperative leak performance refrigerant temperature warm

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom described in the PI.

Some late built 2004 Chevrolet Avalanches received an over-charge of refrigerant in the air conditioning system. Should a customer indicate that the air conditioning is providing insufficient cooling and you find that the compressor is cycling rapidly, evacuate and recharge the refrigerant system as outlined in S/I document number 820665.

Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed. If these steps do not resolve the condition, please contact GM TAC for further diagnostic assistance.
