Bumper Fascia Cover Retainers Pulling Out of Fascia (Trim Fascia)

Some customers may comment that the fascia is pulling away from fender at the wheel opening.

The plastic retaining clips may be pulling out of the fascia and, in some cases, may be breaking . The extra material on the bumper fascia is rubbing on the fender and pulling tight on the retainers.

1. Remover the front bumper fascia cover . Refer to the Fascia Replacement procedure in the Service Manual.
2. Remove excessive material from the fascia using a 60 or 80 grit disc on a grinder. Grind back to the mold line on the fascia.



3. Measure 1 mm (0.04 in) along the side and top of the fascia and remove the material to avoid contact with the fender. Use a file and smooth out the edge where the grinder left shavings on the fascia . Once the material is removed, use a heat gun and lightly go over the areas to remove any sharp edges.




Important: Ensure the fascia contour meets the fender. The fascia lines must be smooth and without voids.

4. Reinstall the front bumper fascia cover and inspect the fit to the fender. If the fascia makes contact with the fender, mark the location and trim off the extra material . If any retaining clips are damaged or broken, replace the clip(s).

Important: If the paint is damaged, spot repair and clearcoat the fender.
