Business Trip and/or Personal Trip Odometer Inoperative

When servicing the vehicle with the VIN you entered, the following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the described symptoms.

The business and/or personal trip odometer are inoperative.

If the vehicle is equipped with steering wheel controls RPO UK3, then the trip/business option must be turned on by using the steering wheel controls as indicated by owners manual page 3-51or SI document ID 867116. If the vehicle does not have steering wheel controls RPO UK3, the IPC should not display business or personal trip odometers. There is only one trip odometer and it is always turned on. If the IPC is displaying a personal and business trip odometer on a vehicle without steering wheel controls, the IPC does not have the correct calibrations. If the technician just replaced the IPC or swapped from another vehicle and the IPC was not programmed, have the technician program it using TIS2000.

Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed. If these steps do not resolve the condition, please contact GM TAC for further diagnostic assistance. This diagnostic approach was developed for the vehicle with the VIN you entered and should not be automatically be used for other vehicles with similar symptoms.
