Service VME - Feature and Operation Information: Stabilitrak Option, RPO JL4

When servicing the vehicle with the VIN you entered, the following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the described symptoms.

2003 K Series Utility Trucks with the optional Stabilitrak® vehicle stability enhancement system (RPO JL4) uses a open differential All-Wheel Drive transfer case. The transfer case buttons located left of the instrument panel are different from the traditional system. The upper button will now have the Stabilitrak® symbol replacing the Auto 4WD feature. The center button is for the All-Wheel Drive feature and is identified as a 4-wheel symbol with two of the wheels turned. Additional information is found in the 2003 Owner's Manual starting on page 2-32.

Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed. If these steps do not resolve the condition, please contact GM TAC for further diagnostic assistance. This diagnostic approach was developed for the vehicle with the VIN you entered and should not be automatically be used for other vehicles with similar symptoms.
