Front Differential Carrier Bracket Replacement 15 Series
Removal Procedure
- Raise the vehicle on a hoist. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
in General Information.
- Remove the differential carrier assembly. Refer to
Differential Carrier Assembly Replacement
.
- Remove the nuts and the washers from the bracket.
- Remove the bolt from the bracket.
- Remove the bracket from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
- Install the bracket to the vehicle.
- Install the bolt to the frame and to the bracket.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the washers and the nuts to the bracket.
Tighten
Tighten the nuts to 90 N·m (70 lb ft).
- Install the differential carrier assembly. Refer to
Differential Carrier Assembly Replacement
.
- Lower the vehicle.

Removal Procedure

- Remove the differential carrier assembly. Refer to

- Remove the air conditioning compressor for the 4.8 L, 5.3 L and 6.0 L engines. Refer to
Air Conditioning Compressor Replacement
.
- Remove the nuts and the washers from the bracket.
- Remove the bracket from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
- Install the bracket to the vehicle.

Tighten the bracket to frame nuts to 90 N·m (67 lb ft).
- Install the air conditioning compressor for the 4.8 L, 5.3 L and 6.0 L engines. Refer to

- Install the differential carrier assembly. Refer to
Differential Carrier Assembly Replacement
.
- Lower the vehicle.
