Caution: Do not attempt to repair or alter the head impact energy-absorbing material glued to the headliner or to the garnish trims. If the material is damaged, replace the headliner and/or the garnish trim. Failure to do so could result in personal injury.

Notice: Use care when working around the head curtain inflator module. Sharp tools may puncture the curtain airbag. If the head curtain inflator module is damaged in any way, it must be replaced.

Notice: If a vehicle is equipped with a head curtain inflator module ensure that the inflator module and tether are undamaged. If tether or curtain airbag are damaged in any way, they must be replaced.

1. Remove the instrument panel (I/P) top trim panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Upper Trim Panel Replacement .
2. Remove the hinge pillar trim. Refer to Body Hinge Pillar Trim Panel Replacement .



3. Disconnect the headliner wire connectors from the junction block located next to the brake pedal.
4. Remove the wire harness retainers along the windshield pillar and I/P assembly.
5. Remove the center trim pillar moldings. Refer to Center Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement .
6. Remove the third pillar trim pillar moldings. Refer to Third Pillar Trim Replacement .
7. Remove the rear corner trim pillar moldings. Refer to Body Rear Corner Garnish Molding Replacement .
8. Disconnect the electrical connector to the rear view mirror.
9. Remove the upper console. Refer to Roof Console Replacement .
10. Remove the DVD player, if equipped. Refer to Video Disc Player Replacement .
11. Remove the front sunshades. Refer to Sunshade Replacement .
12. Remove the sunshade holders.
13. Remove the rear coat hook, if equipped. Refer to Coat Hook Replacement .
14. Remove the assist handles. Refer to Roof Rail Rear Assist Handle Replacement .
15. Remove auxiliary climate control console assembly. Refer to Auxiliary Heater and Air Conditioning Control Replacement - Front .
16. Remove the roof mounted air outlet louver by turning counter clockwise in order to remove the retainer.
17. Remove the retainer.
18. Remove the sunroof finishing lace, if equipped. Refer to Sunroof Opening Trim Finish Lace Replacement .
19. Remove the rear headliner retainers, if needed.
20. Carefully separate the air duct at the right C-pillar from the headliner.
21. Carefully separate the headliner from the roof hook and loop retainers.



22. With the aid of an assistant carefully slide the headliner out through the rear of the vehicle.
23. Remove the interior dome lamp assembly in order to transfer to the new headliner. Refer to Dome Lamp Replacement .

1. Install the interior dome lamp assembly to the new headliner.



2. With the aid of an assistant carefully slide the headliner in through the rear of the vehicle.
3. Secure the headliner to the roof hook and loop retainers while aligning the air duct at the right of the third pillar.
4. Install the retainer through the air outlet louver
5. Install the air outlet louver by turning clockwise till it is seated in place.
6. Install the auxiliary climate control assembly. Refer to Auxiliary Heater and Air Conditioning Control Replacement - Front .
7. Install the assist handles. Refer to Roof Rail Rear Assist Handle Replacement .
8. Install the interior dome lamp. Refer to Dome Lamp Replacement .
9. Install the rear coat hook, if equipped. Refer to Coat Hook Replacement .
10. Install the sunshade holders to the headliner.
11. Install the front sunshades. Refer to Sunshade Replacement .
12. Install the DVD player, if equipped. Refer to Video Disc Player Replacement .
13. Connect the electrical connector to the rear view mirror, if needed.
14. Install the upper console. Refer to Roof Console Replacement .
15. Install the rear corner trim pillar moldings. Refer to Body Rear Corner Garnish Molding Replacement .
16. Install the third pillar trim moldings. Refer to Third Pillar Trim Replacement .
17. Install the center trim pillar moldings. Refer to Center Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement .




Important: Ensure that all of the wire harness retainers in the IP and the windshield pillar are all pressed into place in order to prevent rattling during driving.

18. Connect the headliner electrical connectors to the junction block located next to the brake pedal.
19. Install the sunroof finishing lace, if equipped. Refer to Sunroof Opening Trim Finish Lace Replacement .
20. Install the hinge pillar trim. Refer to Body Hinge Pillar Trim Panel Replacement .
21. Install the I/P top trim panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Upper Trim Panel Replacement .
