Cargo Box Bridge Side Inner Panel Replacement Avalanche/EXT
Removal Procedure
- Remove the rear compartment cover assembly.
- Remove the panel - cargo box bridge center. Refer to
Cargo Box Bridge Cross Bar Replacement
.
- Remove the retaining screws (1)
from the side inner panel.
- Remove the side inner panel from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
- Install the inner side
panel to the vehicle.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the retaining
screws (1) to the inner side panel.
Tighten
Tighten the inner side panel screws to 7 N·m (62 lb in).
- Install the panel - cargo box bridge center. Refer to
Cargo Box Bridge Cross Bar Replacement
.
- Install the rear compartment cover assembly.

Removal Procedure
- Lower the end gate.
- Remove the rear compartment cover assembly.
- Remove the panel - cargo box bridge center. Refer to
Cargo Box Bridge Cross Bar Replacement
.
- Rotate a thin-bladed
screwdriver in order to release all retainers.
- Remove the side inner panel from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
Important: In order to prevent water intrusion, ensure that all water seals are on retainers.
If necessary, replace the retainers.
- Install the inner side panel to the vehicle.
- Install the panel - cargo box bridge center. Refer to
Cargo Box Bridge Cross Bar Replacement
.
- Install the rear compartment cover assembly.
- Close the end gate.
