The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
Condition/Concern:
Technicians may find that on valve bodies and transmissions built after June 2006 the 3-2 down shift solenoid and tcc pwm solenoid retaining clip's may be difficult to remove due to a lack of machining in the retaining clip area.
Recommendation/Instructions:
The machining process used previously has been eliminated, as a result the valve body casting at the retaining clip area will have a rough surface. This WILL NOT effect the valve body performance and considered a characteristic of the build. If the solenoids
or associated valves require service and the clip needs to be removed, use a small pick tool to remove the retaining clip.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
