The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
Accessory fog lamps are inoperative after initial installation.
Some early versions of the installation instructions may incorrectly install the fog lamp wiring harness terminal in the wrong position at the 32 way UBEC connector. Step 14 on page 4 and/or Figure "Q" may show the terminal being installed in A3 when the correct position is D6. Disregard step 14 or Figure "Q" if it references A3 and use position D6 at the 32-way UBEC connector.
Important: In some cases there may be a Purple wire already in position D6. If this is the case simply remove the wire and tape it back into the harness and install the fog lamp wiring harness terminal in its position.
Please Note: On early built 2003 model year trucks, you may also be required to program the TBCM in order for the fog lamps to work. Inform the dealer they may have to contact Techline for a VCI number to program the TBCM. Otherwise, on later built trucks, the TBCM is already programmed for this option. The fog lamps should operate without programming if they where installed properly.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
