The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:

Full size trucks and vans setting Throttle Actuator Control Module (TAC module) codes P2108, P1516, and U0107.

Recommendation/Instructions:

Complete the current SI diagnostics for any trouble codes or symptoms found. If the vehicle came in for an intermittent P2108, P1516, and U0107, please see the information below.

If DTCs P2108, P1516, and U0107 are set, check the freeze frame data. A new calibration has been released to address trouble code P2108 if it sets at start up, and the vehicle speed was at zero. This new calibration will only help repair a DTC that sets when the vehicle is started.

If the trouble codes are setting when the vehicle is in motion, (speed greater than zero) inspect all related wiring, grounds, and terminals. If a loose terminal is found, replace the terminal as needed. There is a TAC module connector/pigtail repair kit available. Do not replace the TAC module connector unless it is damaged. If the pigtail connector must be used, install the pigtail using the SI procedures for Splicing Copper Wire Using Splice Sleeves. Improper splice sleeve crimping/heat shrinking may induce more TAC trouble codes at a later date.

Static electricity has also caused this type of concern to occur. If the vehicle has a utility bed, ladder rack, or pulls a trailer, the TAC module codes can be induced. If the vehicle has been upfitted with a ladder rack or utility bed, install a ground strap between the frame and the upfitted equipment, evaluate repairs. If pulling a trailer, proper trailer grounds must be installed. Do not rely on the trailer hitch to complete a good ground. Use the vehicle owner’s manual for trailer wiring guidelines.

Note: A farm implement trailer may not have an electrical wiring harness. The trailer frame still has to be grounded to the white (ground) wire located in the vehicles towing wiring harness.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
