When servicing the vehicle with the VIN you entered, the following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the described symptoms.

Condition/Concern:

An engine or lifter tick noise. The noise will be most noticeable on vehicles that have been stored for extended periods of time without running the engine or on vehicles following a repair to the valve lifters and/or camshaft.

Recommendation/Instructions:

This condition may be caused by oil drain down. Air may get trapped in the valve lifters, not allowing for proper lifter adjustment. This condition may also be referred to as "lifter bleed down". Run the engine at 2500 RPM for 3 -5 minutes and re-evaluate. This is to purge the air out of the lifers. Repeat as necessary.

Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed. If these steps do not resolve the condition, please contact GM TAC for further diagnostic assistance. This diagnostic approach was developed for the vehicle with the VIN you entered and should not be automatically be used for other vehicles with similar symptoms.
