Removal Procedure

    Object Number: 1248363 Size: SH
  1. Inspect for any damage on the rack gear.

    2. Object Number: 1248364 Size: SH
  2. Inspect for damage on the pinion gear and valve assembly.

    3. Object Number: 1248365 Size: SH
  3. Inspect the tie rod and ball joint.

Installation Procedure

    Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 1248353 Size: SH
  1. Install the pinion lock nut.

    2. Tighten
    Tighten the pinion lock nut to 30 N·m (22 Ib ft).


    Object Number: 1248351 Size: SH
  2. Install the adjust nut and its lock nut. Refer to Steering Gear Rack Bearing Preload Adjustment - Off Vehicle .

    3. Object Number: 1248366 Size: SH
  3. Install the tie rod.

    4. Tighten
    Tighten the tie rod to 100 N·m (75 Ib ft).
