The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in the PI.
Condition/Concern:
SES Light due to P0456 DTC.
Recommendation/Instructions:
If the SI diagnostics lead to an EVAP leak at the fuel filler neck to fuel cap sealing area or if there is no problem found, verify that the fuel cap is secure and that the ratcheting mechanism is working. If the fuel cap ratcheting mechanism is not working, replace the fuel cap. Also, inspect the fuel filler neck to fuel cap sealing area of the filler neck for imperfections, such as dents, nicks, and/or wrinkles. If imperfections are found, replace the fuel filler neck.
Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
