Subject:No Start, High RPM Power Loss, and/or SES Light - Check Crank Sensor

Models:2004-2005 Chevrolet Aveo
2005 Pontiac Wave (Canada Only)



The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:

On rare occasions, a crank no start, high RPM power loss, and/or SES light may be experienced with possible DTCs P0336, P0341, and/or P0342.

Recommendation/Instructions:

If the SI diagnostics do not isolate a cause for this concern, unplug the crank sensor connector, inspect for corrosion and/or water intrusion, and repair as necessary. Once repaired, apply a small amount of dielectric silicone lubricant in the connector to prevent a possible reoccurrence.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
