Tools Required
Disassembly Procedure
- Remove the strut assembly. Refer to
Strut Assembly Replacement
.
- Use paint in order to mark the position of the spring relative to the strut assembly-to-knuckle bracket.
- Install the strut assembly to the
J 45400
(
KM-329-A
) or equivalent. Ensure the hooks are seated on the spring properly.
- Compress the spring with the
J 45400
(
KM-329-A
) or equivalent.
Notice: Do not allow the absorber rod to rotate during disassembly/reassembly. Use hand tools to keep the absorber rod from rotating. If air tools are used, and the rod is allowed to rotate, damage to the absorber may occur.
- Use a wrench in order to hold the threaded piston rod while removing the piston rod nut with the
J-44626
(
SA9603E
) or equivalent.
- Remove the following components from the strut:
• | The strut mount bearing |
• | The strut cartridge upper cover |
Assembly Procedure
- Install the spring to the
J 45400
(
KM-329-A
) or equivalent. Ensure the hooks are seated on the spring properly.
- Compress the spring using the
J 45400
(
KM-329-A
) or equivalent.
Important: Locate the spring to the original position on the spring seat.
- Align the match marks and install the spring to the strut.
- Install the following components to the strut:
• | The strut cartridge upper cover |
• | The strut mount bearing |
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
- Use a wrench in order to hold the threaded piston rod while installing the piston rod nut with the
J-44626
(
SA9603E
) or equivalent.
Tighten
Tighten the piston rod nut to 60 N·m (44 lb ft).
- Remove the strut assembly from the
J 45400
(
KM-329-A
) or equivalent.
- Install the strut assembly to the vehicle. Refer to
Strut Assembly Replacement
