Removal Procedure

    Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in the Preface section.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the timing belt. Refer to Timing Belt Replacement .
  3. Remove the rear timing belt cover. Refer to Timing Belt Cover Replacement .
  4. Disconnect the oil pressure switch connector.

  5. Object Number: 1241642  Size: SH
  6. Remove the crankshaft position (CKP) sensor bolt.
  7. Remove the CKP sensor.
  8. Remove the oil pan. Refer to Oil Pan Replacement .
  9. Remove the oil pump pickup tube and the support bracket bolts.
  10. Remove the oil pump pickup tube.

  12. Remove the oil pump retaining bolts (1).
  13. Caution: Refer to Safety Glasses Caution in the Preface section.

  14. Carefully separate the oil pump and the gasket from the engine block and the oil pan.
  15. Remove the oil pump.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 1241645  Size: SH
  1. Apply a bead of room temperature vulcanizing (RTV) sealer to the oil pump gasket.
  2. Install a new oil pump gasket to the oil pump.
  3. Coat the threads of the oil pump bolts with Loctite® 242.
  4. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  5. Install the oil pump to the engine block with the bolts (1).
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the oil pump retaining bolts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  7. Install a new oil pump to the crankshaft shaft seal.
  8. Coat the lip of the seal with a thin coat of grease.

  9. Object Number: 1241642  Size: SH
  10. Coat the threads of the oil pump pickup tube and the support bracket bolts with Loctite® 242.
  11. Install the oil pump pickup tube and the bolts.
  12. Tighten
    Tighten the oil pump pickup tube and the support bracket bolts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  13. Install the oil pan. Refer to Oil Pan Replacement .
  14. Install the CKP sensor and the bolt.
  15. Tighten
    Tighten the crankshaft position sensor retaining bolt to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  16. Connect the oil pressure switch connector.
  17. Install the rear timing belt cover. Refer to Timing Belt Cover Replacement .
  18. Install the timing belt. Refer to Timing Belt Replacement .
  19. Connect the negative battery cable.
