Hoot Whistle Moan Windnoise From The Windshield / Door Area - keywords cross driver humming noise mirror passenger pillar wind

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

A customer may comment of a Hoot, Moan, Whistle, and or windnoise when driving at highway speeds in a strong cross wind. This noise is most noticeable above 60 MPH and this noise will sound like it is coming from the top of the windshield and or the A pillar.

Through Regional Service Engineer cases it has been identified that the noise will go away by closing the front door and applying tape over the door to the A pillar gap.

The cause is the weather-strip on the door "floating" which can make any of the above noises.

Open the front doors (driver and passenger) and install double sided tape to adhere the door weather-strip to the door window frame.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
