Subject: | Tire Pressure Monitor light On C0550 |
Models: | 2008-2009 Chevrolet Aveo |
The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
When diagnosing a DTC C0550 set in Tire Pressure Module it is important to know that a defective tire pressure sensor can be one of the causes. New functions are currently being developed to the Tech 2 software to aid in diagnosis of this DTC-estimated time frame is October 2008.
Currently, the SI diagnostic procedure for C0550 will not help determine a defective tire pressure sensor (one that won't transition out of Drive mode) that can cause DTC C0550 to set in the Tire Pressure Module.
Therefore, until the new Tech 2 functions are available Technicians should:
• | Observe the "TP Sensor" signal in the Tire Pressure Monitor/Module ID Information/Module ID Information 2 list. |
• | If the ID number listed under "TP Sensor" matches any of the individual sensor ID numbers (RF, RR, LF, or LR), replace that sensor. |
• | If no sensor is found to be faulty, clear the DTC, operate vehicle until the DTC resets. Then repeat second bullet point of this list. |
Important: When the new Tech 2 software is available, this PI and SI will be updated to reflect the changes.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
