Removal Procedure

    Warning: Refer to Battery Disconnect Warning in the Preface section.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Discharge and recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
  3. Remove the compressor A/C hose assembly connector block fitting nut.
  4. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
  5. Disconnect the electrical connector at the compressor.

  7. Remove serpentine accessory drive belt.

  9. Remove the A/C compressor-to-bracket bolts.
  10. Remove the compressor.
  11. Drain the oil from the compressor into a container. Measure the amount of oil drained and then discard the used oil.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 2046432  Size: SH
  1. Add oil to the new compressor. Use the exact amount of oil that you drained from the old compressor.
  2. Install the compressor.
  3. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

  4. Install the compressor-to-bracket mounting bolts.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the compressor bracket bolt to 27 N·m (20 lb ft).

  6. Install the serpentine accessory drive belt.
  7. Lower the vehicle.

  8. Object Number: 1251945  Size: SH
  9. Install new O-ring to the A/C hose assembly connector block fitting.
  10. Install the compressor hose assembly connector block fitting and tighten the retaining nut.
  11. Tighten
    Tighten the A/C system hose connector retaining nut to 33 N·m (24 lb ft).

  12. Connect the electrical connector at the compressor.
  13. Connect the negative battery cable.
  14. Evacuate and recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
