Customer comments of cold driveaway roughness, hesitation or failure to run after a cold start and idle may be addressed with a drop-in manifold deflector plate, service kit, P/N 10112342. The deflector plate is designed to be placed underneath the throttle body with the deflector pointing down into the manifold. This deflector prevents liquid fuel from collecting in the manifold's EGR passage which is then ingested into the engine at initial driveaway. Depending on ambient temperature, the engine needs to idle longer than one minute for this condition to occur.
After installation of this kit check the transmission throttle valve cable (Service Manual Section 7A1) and the cruise control cable (Section 9C) for proper adjustment.
If the subject conditions still continue, refer to the Service Manual, Sections 6E2-A and B for further information.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
