JACK HEAD DIFFICULT TO LOCATE RAISING FRT.END TO CHANGE TIRE

Model and Year: 1988-89 BERETTA

Condition:

--------- Comments indicate that 1988 and some early built 1989 Beretta vehicles equipped with the GTU exterior trim option show a condition where it is difficult to locate the jack head in order to raise the front end when it becomes necessary to change a front tire.

Procedure:

--------- The subject condition may be corrected by relocating the front rocker bracket and notching the lower rocker panel as described in this bulletin.

RELOCATING FRONT BRACKET

Remove or Disconnect

1. Screws (2)

2. Bracket (1)

- From the leading edge of lower rocker panel, measure back 98.0 mm (4") and mark new location for bracket.

- Using the bracket as a template, mark and drill two (2) new attaching holes.

Install or Connect

1. Bracket (1) at new location.

2. Screws (2)

NOTCHING ROCKER PANEL

- Measure back 177.8 mm (7") from the leading edge of lower rocker panel.

- Measure 98.0 mm (4") long x 63.50 mm (2-1/2") wide section in lower rocker panel.

NOTICE: TO AVOID PAINT AND/OR PANEL DAMAGE, USE CARE WHEN CUTTING NOTCH IN ROCKER PANEL.

- Using a razor knife or similar tool, cut out marked section in rocker panel.
