CAMPAIGN: TEMPERATURE SWITCH 1988-89 CORSICA

SUBJECT: TEMPERATURE SWITCH 1988-89 CHEVROLET CORSICA EQUIPPED WITH 2.0L (RPO LL8, VIN CODE 1) ENGINE AND BASE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER.

TO: ALL CHEVROLET DEALERS

DEFECT INVOLVED

GENERAL MOTORS HAS DETERMINED THAT CERTAIN 1988-89 CHEVROLET CORSICA MODEL VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH 2.0L (RPO LL8) ENGINE AND BASE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER HAVE BEEN PRODUCED WITH AN INCORRECTLY WIRED ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SWITCH. AS A RESULT OF THE INCORRECT WIRING, THE COOLANT TEMPERATURE WARNING LIGHT WILL ILLUMINATE BRIEFLY DURING ENGINE STARTING AS A CHECK THAT THE BULB AND ITS CIRCUIT ARE WORKING, BUT THE BULB WILL NOT ILLUMINATE DURING AN OVERHEAT CONDITION.

TO CORRECT THIS CONDITION, DEALERS ARE TO REINDEX THE TEMPERATURE SWITCH CONNECTOR WIRING ACCORDING TO INSTRUCTIONS CONTAINED IN THIS BULLETIN.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
