LOOSE MAP POCKET ON DRIVERS FRONT DOOR TRIM PANEL

VEHICLES AFFECTED: 1987-89 L CAR

Some owners of 1987-89 L-cars with map pockets on the driver's side front door trim may comment on the map pockets coming loose. Loose map pockets are generally caused by drivers attempting to close the door by pulling on the map pocket.

To reinstall the map pocket, remove trim pad and attach map pocket using a number 8 X 3/4" trim screw through the back side of the trim panel into the map pocket. It may be necessary in cases to use a flat washer with the screw to prevent pull through.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
